Dammit Scott... I'm just a poster not a Moderator!
Just for the record... I have never, ever engaged in rampant post inflation. Ever.

Did you hear about the bathrooms in the engineering department, back in 1930? They had three doors; white, colored, and gaussian. |

Yeah, the filters work on old posts as well. |

It's weird seeing so many little elements that are a default of phpBB, that Scott had tweaked in the old verion... on this reply page, for example. We don't have that image map for the emoticons anymore.
I'm glad it's back, though. Thanks, Scott! |

I really miss the old AAF.
This place feels so... so... what's the word?
But, I am excited about AAF3, when it comes. |

So, did we actually LOSE everything? Everything? Or are they saved somewhere? And will they be archived? There's a lot of stuff not worth losing. Even with all of MAF's problems, we can still access their old forum pages before they switched to phpBB. Is there an official memo I can't find somewhere? Not that it matters. We seem to be starting over pretty well. :sploo: |

It's odd that the posts are gone but not the user list since they're on the same database, or at least they are on most BB systems. I wonder what actually happened. |

There's a database archive function which does all forum data automatically. I wonder why Scott would only archive the user data. Oh well, it's not a huge loss, at least the forums are back. |

Posts, and post counts are in diffferent areas of the database.
phpBB does not count all your posts and spit out an amount. It just adds +1 to your current count, and -1 when you delete one. |

Yeah I know this but when you do a database backup from the phpBB admin panel it backs up all forum data so to have a backup of just the user data you'd have to do it manually. I was just curious as to why you would do this, although Scott did seem to imply that he had a backup of most of the older posts. Waiting for the "official announcement" is my chosen course of action from here on. |

phpBB does not count all your posts and spit out an amount. It just adds +1 to your current count, and -1 when you delete one. This is why it's possible to hack the number and set it higher if need be. And it would be hella-slow to count each post in real-time. It's just weird seeing hoe there's like 5-10 times more members than actual Topics. |

This is a new low for you isn't it Jordo? I've done worse things. Perhaps you've forgotten the ill-fated "Picnic on a Cliff" thread? Jasoco wrote: So, did we actually LOSE everything? Everything? Is there an official memo I can't find somewhere? Oh no! We lost Jasoco's memory in the crash! Oh well, you can't really tell he's changed... |
